The British attempt to tax the colonists following the end of the French and Indian War in 1763 convinced Americans of the need to guard the English constitution from corruption; specifically, the American colonists were worried that the king had become a robinarch. Explain how England’s mixed constitution works, and how a robinarch can endanger this system of government. What should citizens do if they believe the king has become a robinarch? Finally, use the Stamp Act as an example of this corruption, and discuss all of the methods that the colonists employed to resist it.
In your answer, include an explanation of England’s mixed constitution and the potential dangers to this system of government. Be sure to define a robinarch and list the symptoms of a robinarch. Also, describe the Stamp Act (do not discuss any other taxes), and explain all of the ways in which the American colonists resisted it.
