Short Essay – Character Analysis In
this essay, you will be required to examine a specific character.
When
looking at a character there are a variety of perspectives that need to be
considered, including how a character has been affected by other characters and
or by experiences. You
will be free to examine any piece of literature, but you must only focus on one
character – do not make comparisons or examine multiple characters. Just choose one. In
addition, you may choose to write about a character from a film, but the film
must be based upon a novel or short story.
In
regards to your essay, you may want to explore how a character develops and
why?
What
event had the single greatest impact on a character and why?
You
may choose to explore what a character is meant to symbolize?
You
may even choose to examine a villain or a flawed hero and what kind of
conflicts they have.
As
always, you must have a direct thesis.

12 pt. font – double spaced – Times New Roman
MLA style
Minimum 4 pages in length.
You must have a minimum of one outside academic
resource.
