Remember—you want to be persuasive in the essay. Write a thesis that expresses your opinion/belief about the topic, use a logical structure, & combine your experiences and observations with at least one source from the readings/videos to support your ideas.
Helpful notes:
Consider our class discussions. Do some prewriting—make a list of important points from discussions, what you took from readings, etc.
Do NOT do outside research
This essay is persuasive and should have—
an argumentative thesis statement: BE SPECIFIC
use of a source as well as examples from own experience/observation as back-up for your thesis
logically structured paragraphs
Your essay must meet the following requirements:
Minimum of 2-3 (approximately 500-750 words)
Uses at least one source from our course work
Uses NO outside research
MLA formatting, including works cited & in-text citation
Source list
Your presentation on an important place/object/event
Essay: “The Ugly Tourist”
Documentary: The Right to Wynwood
Essay “A Native American Student Responds to a Times Article about His Home”
House on Mango Street
You may also use source material from prior units
