We have discussed the complexities of the solar system, and even the universe itself. We have come across theories like Kepler’s Laws of Planetary Motion, and Newton’s Laws of Motion, Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, etc. Given you experience taking Astronomy at College and reflecting on these topics, answer the following questions below:
1) Is Astronomy based on probability and chance? Is everything we discussed 100% accurate or just fiction? Are certain laws well defined, and verified through experimentation?
2) What makes other planetary systems different from one another, for example, the Earth is not the same as Venus or Mars? In the next couple of years, we will be sending people to Mars, evaluate and write about the challenges involved in making this trip. Will human beings survive on Mars based on what we have discussed in class?
3) The Planet we live in: Earth is our Home. In the next couple years, we will experience many disasters because of the evolution of the Planet. In addition to the Sun’s violet behavior, the Earth is undergoing a polar shift, and weather patterns are changing every year. Given your understanding of vast changes that planets undergo, explain the physical characteristics that will eventually make Earth disappear.
4) Lastly, go over what you learned and liked about the course. What are your views on Astronomy and how the universe is changing? Do you ever wonder if humans are alone or is their life on other planets? What will you like to explore in the next 20 years?
