In this activity, you’ll prepare a speech that analyzes the argument Susan B. Anthony makes in her “Speech After Being Convicted of Voting.”
Your speech must be two or three minutes long. You’ll objectively summarize Anthony’s speech and then evaluate the following:
Anthony’s central argument and point of view
Her use of evidence and rhetorical appeals
Her use of logic and reasoning, including any fallacious reasoning or faulty logic
If you don’t have classmates, you can still complete the written portion of this assignment and check with your teacher or school to see if they want you to present it.
This writing assignment will focus on the following skills:
Preparing an analytical speech that shows your understanding of Anthony’s argument
Summarizing and evaluating her argument’s reasoning, rhetoric, logic, and evidence
