Each student will submit a PowerPoint case study to the instructor
The case study must be based on a pathology chose by the student
Each student should look for images of the pathology/procedure on the internet and include these images on
the PowerPoint
Each case study presentation should last approximately 5-10 minutes. Students should be prepared to answer
questions posed by the instructor.
Include your References in the PowerPoint
Patient Information/Interaction
Introduction (how would you introduce yourself, what would you say to the patient, how would you verify you
have the correct [patient)
Age and gender of the patient (patient demographics- Is there a certain population or age range that is affected
more by this pathology)
Primary diagnosis (briefly explain why the procedure was performed- Explain the clinical indications)
Discussion of your interaction with the patient before, during and after the exam (state what you would say or
how would you interact with this patient, what instructions would you give, what patient history question will
you ask, how would you make them comfortable, etc)
Complete patient history (state what symptoms are associated with the patient, what may the patient be
experiencing)
Critique of Images:
Discuss positioning, include special views or projections, what options do you have if the patient had limited
movement.
Discuss technical factors, breathing instruction
Identify field size, 10 x 12, 14 x 17, lengthwise, crosswise
Identify materials needed (i.e. contrast, etc)
Critique of image quality (image production, is the image missing markers, is there rotation, tilt, basically how
can the image/positioning be improved)
Results/Interpretation:
Purpose of the procedure
Radiologist interpretation (include Radiologist’s report- you will need to find the diagnosis from the internet,
go over the radiographic appearance)
Discuss pathology (what was found and significance)
Other related or further tests to be performed
Any other relevant or interesting information
Include References APA, in text citations, Reference page
