Everett learned through his research? What role did the Pirahã language play in helping Everett to gain insights into their culture? For
example, Everett discusses his theory about the “immediacy of experience” for the Pirahã. What linguistic clues led him to pose this
theory? How did it help him to understand why they did not want to accept the religious teachings of Christianity, which was Everett’s
initial mission?
