Step 1. Research and Write Annotations (Content Criteria)
Next, select two books AND two articles from two different scholarly, peer-reviewed journals (print or electronic) provided by Compton College Library on your research topic.
Prepare bibliographies in MLA 9th edition format appropriate for their source type, for a total of four bibliographies.
After each bibliography, write an annotation for that source, for a total of four annotations.
Address ALL 6 criteria for each annotation:
Consist of 100-200 words
Include an evaluation of the authority or background of the author
Provide a summary of the central focus or scope of the work
Identify the intended audience and any relevant commentary
Compare/contrast this source with other works you’ve cited
NOTE: your findings can be positive, negative, or mixed
Explain why and how this source is relevant (or not) to your research topic
Present all sources with citation first, followed immediately by the annotation for that source.
Finally, order the citations (with annotation) alphabetically by author, or (if there is no author) by the first word in the title.

Note that the sample only includes one citation with annotation because it was created for demonstrative purposes; your actual submission should include ALL four citations with accompanying annotations in a single Word document.
Step 2. Organize Your Content (Document Formatting Criteria)
Your document must meet ALL of the 11 criteria (including all parts of criterion 7) outlined below to receive full credit.
Use font style Arial size 12 for entire document, with 1” margins on all sides (normal default settings)
Double-space the entire document.
Create a hanging indent Links to an external site. after the first line of each bibliography (see OWL Excelsior MLA Works Cited PageLinks to an external site. for bibliography formatting examples).
Indent each new paragraph in an annotation.
Title the document Annotated Bibliography in the top center of the first page.
DO NOT use italics, bold, underline, quotation marks, or gray (color) background highlight for any text in the document.
If copying and pasting a generated citation, you MUST remove any extraneous formatting from your paper.
Under the title flush left with the page, write Topic: followed by the research topic you’ve selected.
In the upper left-hand corner of the FIRST PAGE ONLY, list the following in order (each of the following counts as an individual criterion):
Your full name
LIBR 101
Date
In the upper right-hand corner of ALL pages, use a header with your last name, followed by a space, then the page number.(e.g. Marks 2).

Submit as a Word document (.doc or .docx ONLY).

Step 4. Check for Plagiarism!
After you’ve submitted your assignment, check your similarity report from Turnitin.com.
If you’ve received a similarity report of 10% or higher, REVISE YOUR WORK to include necessary credit to original authors and then re-submit in Canvas until your similarity report is below 10%.
If you’ve received a similarity report of 15% or higher, you will automatically receive a ZERO for plagiarized work.
