Analysis of a Fictional Family BLUEY
This requires you to conduct a critical analysis of a family from a novel, film or a television from a family communication perspective. Select a novel, film or show (BLUEY) to examine its portrayal of communication among family members. You should be very familiar with the source that you have chosen to write about in your paper.
This will be demonstrated in the examples that are included in your discussion. The final paper should include the following sections;
1) Introduction of media and characters, this needs to be detailed information in case we are unfamiliar with the fictional family you have selected to analyze;
2) Rationale (discuss the importance of examining the media you selected, portrayals of family life- requires you to do a bit of library research);
3) Discussion of family communication (Be sure to include a discussion/description of specific communication issues, concepts, or theories that are presented in this course and don’t forget to reference them!
4) Conclusion and Recommendations (discussion conclusion and recommendations for the portrayal of family life in other media).
SOME INFO I FOUND WHEN I STARTED DOING RESEARCH
Bluey is an Australian preschool animated television series that premiered on ABC Kids on 1 October 2018. The show follows Bluey, an anthropomorphic six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy who is characterized by her abundance of energy, imagination and curiosity of the world. The young dog lives with her father, Bandit; mother, Chilli; and younger sister, Bingo, who regularly joins Bluey on adventures as the pair embark on imaginative play together. Other characters featured each represent a different dog breed. Overarching themes include the focus on family, growing up and Australian culture. The program was created and is produced in Queensland; its capital city Brisbane inspires the show’s setting. (Bluey (2018 TV series), 2022)
Bluey would fit in with my family because we learn daily lessons. I recently read some kids asking their parents why they couldn’t be like Bluey and spend all day playing, she then started calculating the show times and it equaled out to about 9 minutes of playing in which the child got the undivided attention of this mom. I always strive to give my child as much time as possible, but she put this into a realistic goal for some partners who are very busy.
Both myself and my 3-year-old learns lessons from this show every time we watch it, and will continue to learn as we continue to watch it.
As much as this is fictional it is our everyday lives. Whether we choose to go back to the basics and let our kids use their imaginations or teach them to use kind words all of these lessons they are showing on here not only to the child but to parents. We as parents can learn from this show to teach our children forgotten lessons and overall just be good people (or dogs in this case).
