Description. Module 4 begins Part 2 of the textbook; Planning and Design. In Module 4, participants will explore different security planning and design considerations for the following: Arenas, sports facilities, convention centers, performing arts facilities; commercial high-rise egress systems; courthouse security; federally owned or leased office buildings; and healthcare security. Although each of these areas require different planning and design considerations, there are lots of similarities.
1. Learning Outcomes for module 4:
a. Have a basic understanding of security planning and design considerations for the following: Arenas, sports facilitates, and conventions centers; commercial high-rise egress systems; courthouse security; federally owned or leased office buildings; and health care security.
b. Analyze the above using principles in Chapter, Security Master Planning
c. Apply Crime Prevention through Environmental Design in the above
2. Assignment for module 4
a. Begin a thread discussion by Wednesday of this week (September 21); pick any one of the 5 chapters (4, 5, 6, 7, 8) and, in 4-5 sentences, discuss how Crime Prevention through Environmental Design can be applied to that chapter or, begin a thread discussion on how to apply Security Master Planning (Chapter 2) to any of the 5 chapters. In addition, answer a thread, from one of your classmates by Friday, September 23.
b. Include in your answer: What are some principles common found in all 5 chapters?
c. In responding to a thread discussion; agree or disagree with the original thread and, in 3-4 sentence, explain your response.
Grading Note: This assignment is worth 40 total participation points. It will be graded on content, accuracy (in relation to the chapter and event), and level of student analysis.
