ASSIGNMENT:
Page 1: Pick an architect, interior designer, furniture designer or decorative artist active in the 21st century. Describe how their work embodies and exhibits influences from any of the areas we studied. Include how this current work reflects the principles, elements, philosophies, economic or political forces that shaped the past design. How is the past design reflected in the current designer’s aesthetics, principles, and philosophies and design choices. (See the attached links posted on Canvas announcements for reference). You may also select a designer working with their own culture’s design traditions updating them for current relevance. Be sure to highlight and discuss the significance of the historical design which inspires these current design choices.
Page 2: Describe how you might design a building, an interior, a decorative item, or a furniture piece influenced by an area of design we studied. Include the social, political, or geographical conditions that influenced the original design and why this inspired you in your own design concept. Include the ways your design embodies philosophies or aesthetics from the past adapted for and made relevant to 21st century design issues and current global challenges.
