A distinct thesis statement that directly serves as the main idea of the paper.
An argument that includes the following:
An analysis of how nationalism impacted European views on empire (this analysis could include their rationale for empire as discussed last week).
An appraisal of nationalism in anti-imperial and independence movements in the colonies, including how their goals addressed the concerns of the population.
An evaluation of the use of political rhetoric (i.e. liberalism (Links to an external site.), socialism (Links to an external site.)) within these nationalist movements.
A conclusion that summarizes the main points of the argument and reiterates the thesis.
