John Mearsheimer is a leading scholar in international relations.
His (offensive) realist thoughts have been influential and useful in understanding the great power politics among major powers in the world.
You are going to watch two video lectures he presented years ago.
In the first video, he presents his ideas about the future relationship between the United States and China.
In the second video, he talks about the origin of international crises in Ukraine.
Both lectures are full of interesting theoretical perspectives on great power politics, empirical and anecdotal evidence, and predictive statements.
Choose one of these lectures and write a two-full-page response essay that describes your thoughts on his views.
There is no right or wrong response. Please feel free to present your own opinions on Mearsheimer’s views.
However, whenever you make a claim, don’t forget to provide supporting arguments and evidence.
Try to be logical whenever you present a chain of arguments.
